Un aramitama gigante aparece de repente en la zona turística de Ichinojima. Yukito corre solo hacia la aramitama para salvar a Ibara.
Salva a Ibara, que estaba en peligro, justo a tiempo, y junto con Yogo y Chataro, que se han unido a él, intentan hacer frente al aramitama gigante. Uniendo sus fuerzas, los cuatro consiguen someter al aramitama. Justo cuando estaban compartiendo su alegría, una enorme llama se arremolina sobre sus cabezas.

Desde muy pequeño, Yukito Yanagi se cría en un orfanato de tierra firme. Un día, un hombre llamado Sagawa Jingi, que afirma ser uno de los tres discípulos de su difunto padre, viene al encuentro de Yukito y se ofrece a llevarlo de vuelta a su isla natal de Ayagashima. Ayagashima es el centro de una famosa leyenda, según la cual dragones de fuego y agua y misteriosas criaturas habitan la isla.
Desconcertado pero intrigado, Yukito acepta la oferta y comienza a vivir en Ayagashima, junto a Sawaga y sus dos camaradas: Haruaki Kurama y Aka Ibuki. El trío siempre ha dejado de lado sus diferencias para proteger la armonía de la isla, pero algunas rencillas muy arraigadas empiezan a sacar lo mejor de ellos y destruyen poco a poco el equilibrio de la vida en el archipiélago. Pronto, Yukito tendrá que enfrentarse a la verdad...
